A larger RSS feed, just having 5 stories is really annoying if you haven’t visited in a while…

I feel you guys need a re-design of the website. A new, fresh look, to make it easier to read, etc. The site now doesn’t really have a consitent look, it feels like pieces have just been added to update the functionality and ’socialness’ of the website but no attention was paid to the design and user experience.

I’d love to land a helping hand if you would be interested? Feel free to email me reeboot@reeboot.net

    Thanks,
    Ryan

I really enjoy watching the various style house that your website provide. However, almost are western style. If you want to make it diverse or different taste, should not be lack of the Chinese architecture, particularly the ancient civilization. You will got shocked when you have new discoveries in China about the ancient Chinese wisdom. See what you can do?

i’m a fan of freshome. i visit it almost everyday to see what’s new. i don’t really see anything that your site lacks. i mean, of all the interior design sites i’ve visited, freshome is truly the best! freshome pictures are easy to view, unlike others where i still have to click to enlarge it. i would just appreciate it if you would be featuring more interior inspirations and ideas for small homes. my husband and i got this small home and we are planning to renovate it. i am truly thankful for this site because i really get a lot of ideas. keep up the good work!

A better webdesign :-) It’s a bit outdated in my opinion and doesn’t fit a design-blog. I don’t expect a super stylish, freshome exclusive design – there are a lot of really cool themes out there. The main purpose of that blog is showing nice images, right? I bet there are a lot of people not even reading the text above ;-)

Have a look at those themes:

I’m a daily visitor of Freshome and I absolutely enjoy your work. I have to agree that the site does needs a new look. It is dated and needs a more modern but usable design format. However I don’t agree you that use any out-of-the-box solutions but instead focus on creating something original. It does not have to be mind-blowing but it should be clever, comfortable and very usable. Remember its all in the details. Good luck if you do decide on a makeover and keep up the great work you do already.

    OMG, is that Papyrus??

    Wow.

On a less serious note, I would suggest an entire site re-design. It’s a little outdated and I think someone else mentioned this, it looks sort of pieced together. You guys have such great content, it’s a shame your site doesn’t have the same quality. You sound like a top blog, now look it! :D

That’s all I can really think of to improve Freshome.. your content is top notch, so no worries there.

Oh, and please don’t ever use Papyrus ever again!

Definitely an overhaul when it comes to the website, and more features on small, or not-so-big houses. The “Sarah Susanka movement” is really causing a stir in the home design world, so I’d love to see a little of her work features geared to what she’s trying to get at.

As already mentioned, a site redesign would be ideal, but so would proper article editing. If you want people to take you seriously, PLEASE consider having a second person edit the articles before they’re posted so someone can catch grammar and spelling mistakes. I understand not everyone on staff speaks English as their first language, but if you’re going to publish the blog in English, following proper grammar and spelling rules (either UK or American, though UK is more widely accepted) would truly help the professional feel you’re trying to achieve.

Otherwise, keep up the good work. I read the blog daily, and do enjoy the content thoroughly. Thanks!

Please include more new houses that are not all minimalist type architecture. Or, do all new houses have to be minimalist? Also, house plans would be good. Oh yeah, many times, some of the pictures don’t download. Thanks, I look forward to looking at your blog daily.

I read it every morning, or at least a few times a week…i like it because it is always fresh :) ..and it should always be fresh…The images are really easy to see and really nice and detailed …i think you should include some tricks for refreshing different objects in a household, easy and accesible for everyone..keep up the great work!

    Mercurious Says:

First of all, the positive: You consistently come up with absolutely amazing design spaces, the kind that are thrilling to consider. EVERY time you land in my email box, I read beginning to end. One of the few truly enjoyable publications I receive, day in and day out.

As far as improvements, you could freshen the look, make sure the text was grammatically correct etc. To be honest, I’m so enthralled by the design you come up with I overlook a lot of that. My only imperative suggestion is to find out if there is a link issue on pics and third party sites. There is a seemingly random issue in Firefox 3.5.5 where no images will load, and links will be dead with error messages. Next day, everything is cool. If that could be cleared up, I’d be happy.

    Keep up the great work!

I am from SOUTH AFRICA, and look at your blog everyday, and find it very refreshing and inspiring. I also agree that the website needs an update, fresh, inspiring and informative.

The problem that I encounter from this side of the world is getting hold of the gadgets and designers, there are never email details??!!

    Keep up the good work

Love the Blog, followed you from the last one you hosted and I look you up at least once a week without.
As much as I like the superhomes you feature I’d like to see a bit more relevant housing related things such as affordable & green urban (and rural) alternatives that are coming about nowadays. Otherwise 100% awesome, keep up the great work!

I visit your site atleast 3 or 4 times a week. I think the content is great but I also agree with everyone else saying you guys need a new look-n-feel for your website. It should be all about detail!

For example, lets take a look a the comments… these are placed on top, along with the title. As a reader, I see the title, if i’m interested i’ll read the text, then i’ll view the images, but if i want to leave a comment I have to go back to the top of the article and then back to the bottom again if I want to keep reading the next one.

Same thing happends when reading these comments. I’ll go to the bottom to see the first one, reading upwards, and back again for writing and submitting.

The size of the images is great as it is but it would be even better if they were clickable for even bigger ones! These wide angle photos are excellent for showing the big picture but are no good at showing much detail…

As an idea, how about more articles? So we can, not only see what’s up on the home design world but also learn about it on the same site!

Hope it helps in making an even better freshome!

    Ignacio

SPEED, RELIABILITY. When I view the RSS feed for this site, I almost expect that some of the images won’t load and I expect it to take a LONG time when they do. I still visit the site daily or every other day (through RSS).

Love your content, best on the web! Accessing it is another matter though…

Your logo just doesn’t inspire me to want to visit. It’s too plain, almost looks like a commercial site. I like your content, but doesn’t seem like a good representation of creative design community.

I don’t use the website much anymore, since I’ve got the email updates. I’d only say looks a bit “crowded”. Maybe some re-design would be nice…
In the emails the pictures sometimes wouldn’t open, but in general I love them!! Really nice ideas!!
    Thanks for your work!

Your site is great but I would like to see more innovative solutions for small homes like the feature you did on beds which can be stored near the ceiling. How about bathrooms with sinks that can be folded or retracted near the ceiling or stuff like that (I’m just thinking aloud, perhaps it doesn’t even exist..)

Recommendation on how to resolve problems in our real rooms (my problem and example), i have the computer in the room but i usually like to have the TV on (45 degrees to the right from where i’m with the comp) and i also can see the TV from my bed (just rotating the TV), i’d like to find a way to rearrange my room and find a better way to solve this problem and make everything work together, maybe i can make a diagram on how is the room now and receive recommendations of what can i do. Well that’s an idea i had thought some months ago.

i love freshome and i read it almost everyday.

i know this blog is entitled “fres-home” but IMHO i really would love to see more public spaces interior design besides the residential ones. cause usually public spaces (such as restaurant, lobby, hotel, cafe, bars, etc) are more “bravely” designed. their interior concepts are unique and edgy. i believe they can give us more knowledge about interior design.

    thanks anyway! viva freshome…
