Designed by architect Ulisses Morato ( Brazil’s Morato Arquitetura ) this beautiful modern mountain home design was awarded the 10th Architecture Award promoted by IAB-MG (Instituto dos Arquitetos do Brasil – Minas Gerais) 2008, in the single houses category, and is situated on a hilltop in Minas Gerais, Brazil, embraced by a vast valley and majestic mountain rang. This contemporary mountain home employs time-honored methods and local materials with traditional, manual construction, and uses strong Portuguese colonial architecture influences. Built on three levels, the unique layout allows for a graceful yet functional use of the steeply sloping site.

Now here are a few words about this project from the architect : “Space definition privileged the possibilities of relationship of house users with the exuberant natural landscape. As for the relation of house-nature, we decided for the contrast, i.e. the radicalization of a geometric and rational design in opposition to natural organic shapes. Therefore, the ‘natural order’ and ‘cultural order’ are mutually distinguished and valued.

Absolutely gorgeous! The red and orange accents help the house stand out amid the green landscape. And I adore infinity pools! Additionally, the outpost with telescope really permits the homeowner to
    enjoy the view! Bravo!

    Hi,

“Modern Mountain Home Design by Ulisses Morato” certainly does not respect the natural landscape.
Here in the USA we are trying to stop mansionization and stop building footprints from destroying natural features.
wealthy people have a responsibility to protect natural features such as mountain ridges and other features of the natural landscape.

There is a difference between protecting the natural features and building on top of them. This architect clearly has no clue to what he is doing.

I own a green building company and I’m building a home in Phoenix Arizona (USA) on South Mountain. I absolutely love the design of this house and would like to get in contact with the Architect that designed this home.
