Conceived by architects at Graft for Make it Right — the Hurricane Katrina-inspired and Brad Pitt-led foundation that focuses on community planning and redevelopment — the duplex .pdf proposal reveals a home inspired by camelbacks, a design methodology that historically allowed residents to easily add a second story or utilize extra roof space. A side door leads from the porch into an open living/dining/kitchen space. The lower unit has three bedrooms, which can be reconfigured into a two-bed/office layout. Solar panels and an efficiency unit occupies the second story, which has a large deck area that can be enclosed for private use or adapted to house a small garden. [via freshome] [...]</description>
