Quaint and conservative, Italian manufacturers Misterstep have developed a condensed staircase design called the Mini Plus.  Aside from the obvious modular and space-saving attributes that the Mini Plus has, it’s also a very charming concept which seems perfectly suited to urban living.  It’s hard enough getting around a space when the staircase serves as a barrier for flow, and the Mini Plus seems to have been developed with that concept in mind.  As you can install it yourself and purchase a kit to customize its design for whatever your purposes are, its easily adaptable for lots of spaces and I can even see the more creative do-it-yourself-ers out there using the modular elements as creative bookshelves or interesting walkways for loft spaces.
