Marcello Zuffo's Movable Kitchen Design

Marcello Zuffo’s Movable Kitchen Design

Marcello Zuffo, a senior designer with Motorola’s Consumer Experience Design Group, entered the 2008 Electrolux/Interior Design Magazine competition for innovative kitchen design and took the Grand Prize with this design: an ultramodern kitchen with multiple movable components.  As required by the competition, Electrolux ICON appliances are incorporated throughout the space while the overall design can be shifted and manipulated to adapt to whatever task is required of the space.  The contemporary aesthetic allows for the user to be creative with what would otherwise be a boring, rectangular kitchen floor plan, and encourages an interesting degree of user interactivity between Zuffo’s design and your day-to-day preferences.  In fact, you might as well change up the space every few weeks just to try something different. – via

OK, this one is a tad more than I believe I could live with myself, but all the same, it’s a slick concept, and I found it very interesting. That has been one of the recurring themes in my own life–looking for a way to make our bathrooms and our kitchen look really innovative, even though those rooms are much too small. One of the glories of the Internet, though, is that there is absolutely no dearth of ideas. Right now I have no idea of what I will ultimately do, but I keep hoping I will come up with something really slick. Thank you for sharing this concept. It has given me something to think about.
