Fresh Home an Unexpected Surprise from Readers Digest

fresh home readers digest1 Fresh Home an Unexpected Surprise from Readers Digest

As you might know when you start a website, you have to choose a domain name for that domain. First I wanted to get the domain Freshhome.com, but it wasn’t available, so after searching other alternatives I’ve decided that I like Freshome.com …and I’ve started my online journey. Yesterday I’ve found from Charlesandhudson and Adage that Reader’s Digest Association (RDA) plans to launch a new home magazine aimed at an under-30 crowd later this month ( more exactly on 27 February ) …and surprise …that magazine is called Fresh Home. I’m pretty sure that they don’t know about Freshome.com, and if they will decide in future to move online ( as many magazines do these days ) they might have a little surprise. What do you think about this ? Do you have any suggestions ?

You should follow Freshome.com on - facebook, twitter, rss or e-mail

I think that mean you’ll have more traffic after a while =)
People make spelling mistakes very often.

I think this will definitely work in favor of Freshome.com. It’s
Amazing that mags even announce launches without first setting up
a domain that points people to a branded site even if there is no
content. Most likely they will grab freshhomemag.com (which I see
they’ve already done!). But a Google search for fresh home magazine
brings up you guys! Well done on the SEO!!!

I guess that the people of Readers digest has pirated your idea,
because is really popular your blog, and also the magazine and this
blog is the same, so you must bring a lawsuit against them.

I think they “borrowed” your idea and name. You should pioneer their online venture of the magazine.

Before you see big $$$, freshhome.com directs you to a flower site.
Probably they add -magazine at the end or make a link from their own website.

Ofcourse I hope you get more traffic.

I find it surprising for RDA to launch FreshHome during such a dull period when so many print magazines are shutting down. Would be interesting to see if they would go for a standalone domain or they would include it within rd.com. Either way I don’t think you it will affect you negatively.

*PS: just noticed a site that I think is taking your RSS and publishing it:

    Is it with your authorization?

    Michael Says:

Midhun – There are a lot of websites that copy Freshome word by word
but I don’t have what to do to them.

  19. 19
    Midhun Says:

Yes, Michael, it is a common problem faced by many bloggers. Publishing your RSS feed as content on another website is downright illegal and I think you should warn the webmaster concerned. I have been a victim of this too and now I even have a standard mail that I use to send to plagiarists!

  20. 20
    Michael Says:

Midhun – And to they agree to remove the content after you send them an email ?

  21. 21
    Midhun Says:

Sadly not all of them. But atleast some of them will take notice if you mention plans about alerting Google and their web hosts.

  22. 22
    Michael Says:

Thanks for your advices, but I think that those pages are just robots that copy and paste content, and to get to the actual owner would be a hard thing to do, and he will ignore me, because this is what he knows best to do …copy/ paste and spam.

    Midhun Says:

Hey, don’t be completely disheartened. I have had a few success stories in getting sites that use autobots to quit. Usually the webmasters of such sites do read all the incoming mail and sometimes act on the fear of having their Adsense banned. And yeah, getting justice is a tough thing. :( But atleast you can have the satisfaction of having done everything that you could have.

Actually, i thougth i wrote the name wrong… but then,
your site came out and i found it pretty interesting…
Usually the problems with the domain names are solve by
adding a “-” in bettween or the word “magazine”…
