Why pellet stoves are better than a regular wood burning stove

Although it is difficult to talk about design, home renovations and home and garden improvements without thinking about the money and ultimately the economy, many people are not letting the grey economy from keeping them from making some great purchases for their home.

When it comes to heating, though, many home owners find that they are limited in what they can do. For the first point, most homes are run on some form of fossil fuel. This has meant high costs over the last several years with the rising cost of crude oil and it can be very frightening on how high a heating bill can get.

With the rising costs, many home owners are trying to find alternatives when it comes to heating their homes and one of those ways is with the purchase of a fireplace or a fireplace insert. Since most people don’t want the added aggravation of stocking wood or attaching a chimney, they have opted to use pellet stoves.

What makes a pellet stove so much better than a regular wood burning stove are several things.

  1. They can use a variety of fuels: Pellet stoves were designed to use compressed wood chip pellets to heat your space but pellet stove owners have quickly realized that the pellet stoves not only burn pellets efficiently but they also burn corn, wheat husks and other biodegradable waste.
  2. Smaller venting: Many wood burning stoves will require a chimney to be installed in your home but a pellet stove, depending on the model, will only require a 3” hole in an outside wall to provide adequate venting for your pellet stove.

  4. You can purchase freestanding or insert: When it comes to pellet stoves, you have a lot of options. You can purchase freestanding pellet stoves or fireplace inserts to work with an existing fireplace. This leaves you with a lot of options and since the venting is small, you can easily add a pellet stove into your home decor quite easily.
  5. Smaller Carbon Footprint: We are all becoming aware of the term “carbon footprint” and it is beginning to affect the decisions that we make. Generally, pellet stoves produce lower emissions and can leave a smaller footprint than a wood burning stove.

In the end, pellet stoves can provide you with an alternative heat source that can lower the amount that you spend on heating and they can be an attractive addition to any home decor.

The Versatility of the Carpet Tiles

Over the last few years, I have seen a real move away from carpet. Most people are opting for hardwoods or laminates and carpet is almost becoming a thing of the past, that is except for area rugs that are lovingly placed over a hardwood floor to add color or style to a room or simply to protect those hardwoods in high traffic areas.

carpet tiles The Versatility of the Carpet Tiles

With a resurgence in area rugs, it is not surprising that carpet tiles have become a popular choice for many. If you aren’t sure what a carpet tile is, it is simply a square of carpet that can be placed on the floor with other squares of carpet.

Usually a carpet tile is about 18 inches by 18 inches in size, although you can find them in other sizes if you look hard enough, and you usually buy them in a package that contains several tiles. There is a huge selection to choose from and you can mix and match the tiles to make your own patterns that flatter your space.

One of the best points to the carpet tile is the fact that they are so versatile. You can use them in just about any space and you can really play around with the size and shape of your rug. You can make long rugs for a hallway or a large area rug with little difficulty.

The carpet tiles are designed so well, that you barely notice a seam when you have them arranged and in some patterns, the seams blend in so well that you rarely remember that you used carpet tiles.

Another great point about carpet tiles is that they are excellent to use if you have children. Now when a spill wrecks the corner of the carpet, you don’t have to rearrange your furniture, all you need to do is slide out the tile that was stained and replace it with a leftover tile that you have in the storage closet. It is quick, easy and completely painless to replace a tile, especially if you purchased extra when you bought the tiles.

If you rent a home, then the carpet tile is probably a perfect choice for covering up old rugs or flooring. It is very easy to decorate your space and when you move, all you need to do is pull up the tiles and take them with you. At your new home, you can rearrange the carpet tiles to create a new and beautiful carpet that will fit any new dimension that you choose.

When it comes to carpet tiles, I am a big fan and I think it has more to do with the design and less to do with the carpet. I can really play around with the patterns and create new ones or I can stick with the pattern the manufacturers created.

Carpet tiles have even gone green and you can find several brands of carpet tiles that are made from both natural and recycled fibers. So with something that is so versatile that it will fit any space, why not add them to your home. I’m sure everyone has a space that needs a little extra.

Chin Chia Lim’s Würfel recreates the magic of a cascading waterfall from the washbasin to the bathtub. I’ve never saw something like this before and this new approach is something really unique. The bad thing about this design is that you’ll need to fill up the sink every time you want take a bath and just imagine the amount of water wasted. – Via
