We’ve seen it in movies and in real life, that writers need a quiet place to come up with great ideas for their books. If you’ve been looking for the key elements for such a house, then we have Casa Kike located in Cahuita, Costa Rica (30 miles south of Puerto Limon).

Gianni Botsford from GB Architects used indigenous techniques and materials to build this modern looking house, for his father. The whole pavilion is built on a wooden structure with no vertical walls on the interior and consists of a main studio space, with a contemporary library, a writing desk and a grand piano. But Botsford doubled everything, because just a short distance along a raised walkway there’s another pavilion with the sleeping quarters and a bathroom.

It blends really well with the whole “neighborhood” and I’ll be honest I’d like to have a vacation home like Casa Kike. – via Cubeme

Remember the sunny California beach house, from the other days? Well if liked it, we have another from Gunyah beach in Bundeena, Australia. Created by architect Clinton Murray, solid as a rock and intended “last forever”, it wasn’t easy to tuck it into the hillside, very close to the breaking shoreline.

“The house sits with its toes touching the sea and with an exposed worn rock face at its back, both constant reminders of the power of wild storms blowing in from the north-east. And should the big seas come, this house is a safe haven, no question about it.”

But enough with the location and how solid this beach house is, because the interior is just as spectacular as the site itself. The whole house is made of reused Oregon timber and textured off-form concrete which contrasts with the orange, really well. It has a main living quarters with everything you may need (including three master bedrooms with en-suite balconies) for a relaxing vacation and a copper clad roof to offer stunning ocean views. – via Modresdes

Just by visiting a few pages of this blog, you can see that there are a lot of creative and crazy designs, and today you’re gonna see something that is really crazy and creative in the same time. Inspired by the famous scene of “The Godfather” the horse head pillow is a great home accessory as a tough guy’s Teddy bear, aimed squarely at those with a diabolically dark sense of humor. A great conversation piece or a gift to your frienemies. You can buy it from here.

There are times when words are not necessary to make a point and that’s one of them. But I’m still going to give you a few details on L.A.’s Beverly Crest neighborhood and the house (the Campbell Divertimento) that has a 5,000 square foot swimming pool with a towering stone fountain.

Thought to be designed by the famous Mexican architectural firm of Luis Barragan and Raul Ferrera the 4,900-square-feet house is now owned by Eugene Leoni and his business partner, Anthony Brent. Even though we know there’s no such thing as “perfect” you can see for yourself that it’s so close. Redesigned to make it look better, Leon and Brent wanted to sell it for a small profit, after everything is done. Seeing the outcome, they priced it at $9.95 million.

The first floor is for entertaining purposes with a game room, a long dramatic bar and wine room, along with a bedroom suite. Up one level, and you’ll find a large living room with a glossy kitchen and a dining room, a huge window that offers magnificent views, a master bedroom suite and terrace, and two stylish bedroom suite. Do you simply love it? Check out the gallery after the break. – via Luxist

Ctd 2005 designed these stairs for a client who wanted to combine Shaker and Japanese utility into the space. The owner had both a shaker elemental utility look he wanted and to the Japanese for their use of storage under stairs as part of designing space, and the final result is a very practical use of space that I have to say it looks awesome. Take a look at the pictures attached below and tell me what do you think about this under stair drawer system. – Via
