I don’t know about you, but after sleeping on the floor until my bedroom furniture gets here, I am really excited to see comfy looking chairs. Take the Living Lounge Chair for example. The concept was created by JGreen Design and won the 2008 Niche Awards, even though the price is more than most of us would pay: $7,500. The dimensions are 96 x 38 x 30-inch and it definitely has style, looking like a living creature with black arms made of poplar and a body with lavender micro-suede. But is it worth paying that much? The company is taking 50% deposits from those that definitely need to lie down on this chaise lounge. It’s a limited edition so if you want yours, hurry up!

Last week I was in Bucharest to meet a few people that I knew from the internet. We spoke for a long time online but we never saw each other in real life, and I’ve decided that right now I could go to visit Bucharest and meet a few of my “digital friends“. Now to avoid paying between 50 & 100 euro/night to stay at a hotel a good friend of mine ( Adi ) took me to his little one room apartment, and how I have a blog about architecture, interior design, furniture, etc …I’ve decided to take some pictures, because I really liked how Adi made that small place look really good. Now let’s take a look at this small one room apartment, that is a great example of how you can make a small apartment look really good.
At night these red lights make a very romantic and calming atmosphere.

Here you can see the bed and a small part of the kitchen …yes I know is very small.

From this picture you can see how small is the kitchen, in that corner of the room.

Inside the small kitchen …only the things you really need.

I know that the picture is a little bit messy, but here is the small office desk from where I’ve accessed the internet in the last week.

Juampi Sammartino from Argentina has designed the “Cisca: Urban seat”, that is a seat made from concrete and plates of wood, that it can be used in a series or on its own. The design incorporates a section for pot plants and can be used in both commercial and residential environments. It’s a grand blend of concrete, timber, and vegetation as is exposed through the classy look it throws upon the beholders. – Via

Medieval knights and soldiers once wore boiled leather or cuir bouilli armor. Thick leather was boiled in water, oil or wax. The treated leather remained soft enough for it to be molded into various shapes. The hardened leather with a wood-like consistency provided some protection against bludgeoning blows. It was used as scale armour or in cuisses or greaves – thigh and shin guards.

Well, today we have far nastier and efficient ways of killing so boiled leather armor only exists in medieval reenactments and museums. But the art of boiled leather has now been cleverly applied for more peaceful purposes by Simon Hasan, an industrial designer. He produced a range of boiled leather products for a recent Royal College of Art Show held in London, England. He made two boiled leather stools called Bambi and Twist.

The boiled leather seat of Bambi is hollow and was made from a single piece of leather. It does have a deer-like look about it hence the name. Twist was created by molding the boiled leather around tubes which were later removed. Twist is thus self-supporting and only contains a ring frame in the seat. He also made several different kinds of vases combining boiled leather with other materials such as resin and acrylic. Molds are used to shape the leather and later removed. – Via

Water features have got to be the top must-have features in gardens. One of the best designers who creates wonderful water sculptures is William Pye (UK). He takes his inspiration from nature and the way he manipulates water is truly outstanding such as his vortex fountains. Although he makes smaller versions, the largest one has got to be his masterpiece. The fountain is called Charybdis and is located in Seaham Hall in Sunderland, UK.

Why he named it such will be familiar to those who know their Greek mythology. Charybdis was once a sea nymph who made the God Zeus mad enough to change her into a monstrous whirlpool which swallowed up whole ships. Pye’s vortex fountain has all the mesmerizing beauty of the original siren it was named after. The fountain has steps around it which serves as viewing platforms so people can gaze at the vortex from above. A transparent acrylic cylinder is where water rushes through under high pressure and forms a sustained air core in the middle. The filtration system has to be very good to keep the vortex fountain in tip-top shape. – Via
