Plugless sink is exactly that, a sink without a plughole. To get rid of the grey water we have to tip the water out. This idea is totally useless, because what it does is just complicates everything, and takes time, and I’m pretty sure that 99% of the people will prefer to use a normal sink. Anyway the designer Maja Ganszyniec made this sink with the purpose of making people more conscious of how much water we are using and mainly throwing away. This sink shows the value of water through its volume and promotes water re-usage. - Via

It’s a bowl under a faucet, not a sink. A heavy bowl at that. Why don’t they go back to the days when, instead of a sink, people had a big bowl, and a pitcher of water on a table? Or put a bowl in the sink, like I do, to conserve water. Even with a bowl of grey water, I would not want to put my toothbrushing leftovers in it. This is an old design that was replaced by good design - the stopper in the sink.
I think that it would probably waste more water because you would want to rinse it out after dumping the water.
Wow, it may not be a particularly new design, rather ancient in fact. However, in Australia where we live in an ever present drought and water restrictions require us to sower with a bucket under the shower head and people collect the grey water from washing machines to water their gardens, this design is rather useful. It allows another point of grey water collection and makes it simple to then transport the water to where it can be reused.
It is a little indugent as a design, it’s certainly more cheaper to follow Anthea’s lead and put a bowl in the sink.
ummmmm……… no.
