A few Changes on Freshome this Weekend

Share |

This weekend I’ve made a few changes to Freshome, to experiment a few things, and I hope to improve the readers experience on this website. Now let me explain what I did, and after that you’ll tell me if what I did is a good things, and you like it …and of course if there are any suggestions please post a comment.

1. As you can see from the screenshot, now when you enter on a post from this blog, you have the possibility to surf the website, and with just a click see the next, and previous article. Give it a try to see what I’m talking about.

2. I thought that some people when they come to this blog, they come with a specific goal in mind, for example to find inspiration for their bathroom. Now I know that there is a menu in the right sidebar with categories, but categories aren’t so well organized, so I’ve decided to label every post from this blog with a few descriptive tags. When you will click on a tag, for example the tag “sink” you’ll see all the posts from this blog that are related to the word sink. In conclusion I think that this method will help you find what you are looking for a little bit faster. The tags are displayed at the end of every post.

3. Now when you want to surf in categories, tags, or archives, the posts are displayed in full format, not just an excerpt. A few readers suggested to make this change, and right now I’m experimenting how this will work.

Excellent makeover of the site that inspires makeover of thousands of homes worldwide!!

Managing categories better and showing full content in categories is a very welcome change. I am a regular visitor of FreshHome and this is precisely what I was missing here (though I was too lazy to ask you for it). Keep posting interesting ideas, you rock!!

You should use Jing Project (www.jingproject.com) for displaying this type of screenshot tutorial.
