In 1958 Fritz Hansen produced the first Egg Chair designed by Arne Jacobsen. Originally created for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, the Egg Chair was inspired by the form of an egg-shell to keep people’s intimacy away from the indiscretion of a crowed place like the lobby of a hotel. This year, on the occasion of the chair’s golden anniversary, Fritz Hansen asked the well-known conteporary artist Tal R to interpret 50 Egg chairs designed by Arne Jacobsen. It deals with unique and personalized works covered with precious fabrics that the artist himself collected from around the world. This series of the Egg visually expresses its 50 years of fame as if every piece of textile represents a period of time with past and present trends; rather like a multicolor genealogic tree. - Via - The-Egg-Chair
