Redefining the Rocking Chair – Cuna Rocking Chair 

When we hear the words “rocking chair” we immediately think at a type of chair with two curved bands of wood (also known as rockers) attached to the bottom of the legs, but Paco Capdell brings us a new vision. The Cuna Rocking Chair uses two wooden squares as the frame and either metal bars or dyneema rope that allow the seat to swing back and forth. According to Contemporist the Cuna Rocking Chair was launched at the Salone in Milan, and will be available in the US at Eurotrend Furniture.

    I had the same thought. Swinging and rocking are completely different motions

    i see how it can be a swinging chair… but i LOVE the design and concept of the chair.. its definitely my style!!!

    Also this design would be good for people who like rocking chairs, but have dogs (or cats?). Conventional rocking chairs are dangerous to those tails…

    i love the idea and i wish to do this design for my school project i was hoping what is used to make the seat swing because it is so cool.
