Prefab home that can be built in just 3 days – Perrinepod

Architect Jean mic Perrine has come up with an audacious new idea – ready made, stackable, expandable pod homes. Jean mic Perrine project is named Perrinepod, and is a cute prefab home that can be built in just 3 days and withstand everything from earthquakes to cyclones. In conclusion a great choice for those who don’t like to wait. The philosophy behind Perrinepod is that the houses should be nothing more or less than its inhabitants need, and that simple design and beautiful material should be able to stand the test of time: “Living spaces have become as transient and irrelevant as fashion“. This disaster-proof prefab is not only durable, but green in its material, systems, and long life-span.

The Perrinepod comes with a Solar Edwards Heat Pump hot water system that uses refrigeration technology in reverse to heat the water. A small electric booster motor can be powered by a solar cell for the complete environmental package. As for the pricetag, the one-bedroom version, which weighs in at a hefty 114 tons, starts at $125,000, while a three-bedroom, two-bathroom pod starts at $250,000. Additionally, Perrinepods can be stacked on top of each other (up to 30 units tall!) to create larger complexes. – Via – Belowtheclouds

Looks terrific, I love modern architecture. Just the type of thing I’m looking for. I live in a one bedroom apartment in NYC and would love to do the same in Arizona , but as a house not an apartment and you’ve done it. One question the unit you show, how many square feet? Do you have any other info on the specifications Type of flooring etc.? Does the owner supply appliances or does it come with the package. Where have they been built?

Just imagine – 500lbs. of carbon emissions for every ton of concrete. It’s a brave new world!

Ready in 3 days? lol. With a crew of maybe 20 or 30 specialists, many in different fields… and a crew of maybe another 30-50 helpers, sure. And you would have to coordinate plumbers, electricians, a structural engineer, landscaping, city maintenance and various building and code inspections….

Oh joy! Another “green” option for well-paid corporate 30-somethings. I guess we have to park those drones somewhere… Now where oh where will all us “resisters” find OUR “green” habitat, (without selling out to some godless multinational corporation)?

Good find, this is a great example of modern green design. Just be careful since some other prefab sellers are using green sales pitches and not always backing it up with green results.

With some re-vamping, this home could be fully sustainable and off-the-grid. I hope to see similar designs like these REAL soon! If they can be stacked high, then an urban self-sustained complex would be Brilliant!

Beautifully simple idea. I often wonder why people need so much space to live in nowadays – this design could lead to a simple, uncluttered home life. And with that simplicity you can easily reduce your carbon footprint.

I wonder though what the carbon footprint of shipping such a structure would be?

Looks awesome! I wish we could see the architectural plan of the house. The pictures aren’t adequate.
