First Zero-Emission Carbon Home Unveiled

1.Wind catcher, for summer ventilation
2.Solar array at back of house for hot water and electricity
3.High-level of wall insulation
4.Biomass boiler

The UK has unveiled its first zero emission home that will set the environmental standard for all new homes in the future. The two-bedroom house is insulated to lose 60% less heat than a normal home. It also features solar panels, a biomass boiler and water efficiency devices such as rainwater harvesting. The design, unveiled at the Offsite 2007 exhibition in Watford, meets rules to be applied in 2016 that aim to make UK homes more energy-efficient. - Read more on BBC

    Yes, but does it work?

Yes. They tested it on small white mice and found it rather posh.

Biomass has no emissions? Is this one of those phony “carbon offset” equations?

    biomass has no emissions?……

my ex wife’s bio mass had VISIBLE emissions….. sort of a green fog would permeate the air after she deposited her bio mass waste material in the hopper…… she was “retentive” so they were few, far between and DEADLY.

i dont know if its a “carbon offset” equation…. but…. as in bio fuel, it doesnt create NEW co2… it just preplaces that which was taken from the atmosphere during the growth phase of the plant that donates the bio mass for the fuel. im not sure if this is relevant to this discussion.

With Solar array facing south, that leaves Wind catcher facing north. So it must be designed for a north shore development. Just in time for the wamer weather there, NINE years from now. What no Wind power? Add the wind turbine and you would go from zero emissions to minus emission. That’s the ticket.

Bio fuel and solar energy is the future of mankind. With the long
served hydrocarbon reserves are draining up, man kind will have to f
find alternatives in the form of solar energy and bio fuel
utilization. This will reduce the pollution level and helps keep
tab on the increasing concern over global warming.
