I love this concept of sliding doors. They are practical and stylish. A folding sliding door can be a solution to many situations without removing or destroying the look or the character of the building. There are so many situations that a folding sliding door can be a solution to improving your living space and the environment around you. For instance, you live in an apartment with a balcony. By incorporating a folding sliding door between you and the balcony, can create a feeling of more space. How about using a folding sliding door as a window to generate a more open feeling in any room in your home. Folding sliding doors can increase the valued time that you have with your family, even when they are in the garden and you are in the home. Vibrating Windows to Stop Outside Sounds

Share |

sound proof windows

I live in a crowder area, and I hear cars, people, all day long. Somethimes all this noise can be quite disturbing, but a team of researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability LBF in Darmstadt, Germany, have developed a vibrating window that negates noise generated by sources as loud and shrieking as jet planes.

A window acts like a loudspeaker and a membrane. If you control the vibration of the window, you can control transmitted noise in such a way that it is not acting like a membrane or a loudspeaker,” said Thilo Bein, head of the business unit for energy, environment and health at the institute.

Traditionally, to obstruct intrusion of noise through windows, engineers thicken the glass to double or even triple panes. But there is disadvantage to it; the process drives up the cost of construction.

Now, Bein and his team have developed a method that thwarts vibration with vibration, effectively negating the interference of outside noise through glass windows. The trick, they say, is to stop the sound waves in their tracks. – Source – Discovery

For those who have problems with this the one-handed serving tray will come in handy. With a handle that flexes out at a 55-degree angle, the tray’s designed to always remain in a balanced position when the handle’s in use. The tray’s surface also has a non-slip rubberized surface for extra stability and, apparently, can be used to carry not only drinks and food but even a full bottle of wine. An interesting little try that can impress your guests, and make your more confident when serving your guests.
