Today I’ve found a bookcase that catch my eye, because it is not usual, and in general things that are different catch our eyes. As you can see from these pictures a whole wall was used for this interesting bookcase, and the final result is a quite interesting bookcase, at least from my perspective. – via – Shimna

I actually like it alot. Looks like they simply installed what is typically used as wine bottle holders.
However, I think the person should be consistent with the placement of books (so they all parallel each other) so one does not have to keep moving their neck back and forth when they go to the next box.

Yes you are right this bookcase looks like wine bottle holder. I didn’t looked at this bookcase this way, but you are right.

WOW I love this bookcase alot. Fabulous idea.
It is innovative that it drastically changes your environment without leaving your place. Its like new start to pep your imagination .

Interesting and cool when you see it here as a picture, but I think in real life, having to see it on my wall everyday would start to make me dizzy. It’s sort of vertigo-inducing having everything at an angle.

its great 4 storage , but how do you index them so you can read the titles and find the one you want? also i don’t think your supposed to stack books that way for the best life of the binder.
Speaking as a professional librarian, and avid book collector, it’s an elegant waste of space. Very pretty, but not for the serious bibliophile.
i like the idea.
but if you had a lot of books you would run out of space fast.
you can’t replace the origional book shelves.
(spoken in german accent) – IT IS SHIT! The case is too small for my oversized book collection. The function and form is fit for single mother romance novels.
To the German accented fellow…the cases can be constructed on a grander scale. I dare say the romance novel enthusiasts could do with a much smaller version, besides, not all romantics are single mothers you nit wit.
Pretty cool, I could do with something like that for all my books.

I *LOVE* this– and my cats would, too–there would be a cubby for each one. Lighter wood would look better than darker; I’d like to use this system for my oversized art books and other books that are not the standard bookshelf-size.

i designed, built, and installed that bookcase about 2 years ago for a client in manhattan. the general idea is based on something he had seen in a hotel in LA.
it is by no means a perfect solution for book storage, but was a great exercise in problem solving and is a very satisfying object to experience in person. i have executed many custom pieces of this scale and it is one of my favorites. it is certainly one of a kind, and definitely not a retrofiited wine rack!
to the critics: the overal dimensions are 12′+ x 20′. it works out to almost 100 linear feet of shelf. each cubicle is 18″ x 18″ and 12″ deep (zum deutschen Kritiker: 457mm x 457mm x 305mm), so it can certainly accommodate books of the larger variety.

Eric, I absolutely love this. I just bought a house and I now am trying to figure out where I can put a shelf like this! (and where I can get one made! I am sure I cannot afford your services.) You do great work. Ignore the unimaginative, the anal-retentive indexers (I have over 5,000 books and can find exactly what I’m looking for without an index, thank you) and the just plain plain stupid, and continue to do what you do.
