I think that this idea is very clever, and it could be very useful. Just a few examples that are in my mind now : useful when cleaning, make your own design, you can put wires easily under this rug, etc. The carpet consists of modules that are connected on the longer side by zippers fasteners. Is an interesting idea, but the bad part is the price that is $915.00 and can be bought from here. You have the idea, now you can improvise.

This seems like a good idea, especially if you need a rug for a child’s play space and then you do NOT need it later.
I am concerned that the zippers would mark a wood floor.
Also, the colors shows are absolutely HIDEOUS.
Cirese you are very good at critique, and this is good because we can see the good and the bad side of things more clearly. Feel free to comment.
I agree, that the Zip carpet is not a bad idea at all, but if you do market this product to parents, it is important to consider the zip itself - will it not hurt children’s feet, will hair not get tangled up in the zipper?
To avoid that, you would have to implement a zipper function that would take the zipper to the bottom of the carpet when closing - then however, you would have the problem with marking the wooden floors…tricky!
Not only could the zippers mark up the floors, would they not be extremely slippery? I saw a design show that had square pieces that had sticky pieces on each corner that allowed you to customize your area rug then stick all the pieces in place. Non-damaging, easy to replace in the future, but I have no idea how expensive.
