A Vase Made by Bees

bee vaseToday I’ve found this interestig vase on Dezeen Blog. Tomas Gabzdil Libertiny of Studio Libertiny named this vase Little Help of the Bees, and it was presented in Milan this year.

Libertiny made a vase-shaped hive that the bees then colonised, building a hexagon comb around it. The wax sheets used to make the hive were embossed with a honeycomb pattern to help the bees on their way.

Libertiny calls the process “slow prototyping” – it took 40,000 bees a week to make the vase. Since the bees get aggressive when they are interrupted, Libertiny had to guess when it was time to remove the vase.

    Dude, that’s just plain awesome. I think you should try to break it on somebody’s head, like in the movies! That would bee just AITSU IKATSU!

    What a wonderful job done friend. I am a beekeeper and hence know
    what amount of hardwork did it take to make bees work on this.

    Did you try making full drawn bee comb of bees wax by yourself also?/
